...Making life easier
Manual Handling Assessment
The Trusts moving and handling trainer supports the need for a
sliding sheet, and has reviewed the SoloGlide device. A manual
handling assessments supports the selection of the device.
The Sologlide has been used whilst responding to assist crews
and during ambulance shifts by the Commercial Training Officer
and the Deputy Clinical Director for a six month trial. The
Sologlide was found to significantly reduce the friction during
patient movements, enabling the easier movement of patients.
Infection Control Assessment
The disposable nature of sliding sheets promotes high
standards of infection prevention and control by preventing
cross contamination.
Storage Arrangements
Disposable sheets are supplied on a roll, with individual sheets
being torn off and stored on vehicles ready for use. It is
suggested that 4 sliding sheets be carried by every emergency
ambulance in an overhead cupboard, 2 on every PTS
ambulance and 1 on every RRV.
